Trooper Part Store - Trooper Extended Warranties

An extended warranty is a good idea no matter how you look at it. It is sensible to have a policy that covers your Trooper so you don't have to worry about major repairs, making driving, owning, and maintaining your Isuzu Trooper that much more pleasurable.

An extended warranty means you pay premiums to a company in the event that one or more components on your Trooper fails. You make payments for the security of knowing that this company will cover the cost of repairs and parts should a part or component fail and your Trooper is not driveable. You can sometimes add extended warranty coverage onto your loan payment if you will be financing your Trooper. But buying from a separate company that specializes in extended warranties, as opposed to companies that partner with finance companies, sometimes have rates that are more competitive. That is something you need to find out when shopping for an extended warranty. Compare not only prices but also what parts are covered and for how long. You can also ask about added benefits, such as towing and rental car services.

An extended warranty gives you adequate protection on many Trooper components after the original warranty expires. This gives you a feeling of security. But purchasing an extended warranty also gives you protection against inflation. Parts and labor costs may increase but when you buy an extended warranty for your Trooper, it covers you at the rates you originally signed up for, no matter how much labor and parts costs go up. Keep in mind that wherever you travel (with some exceptions) your Trooper is covered. This is another reduction of the worry factor. And many extended warranties are transferable; for a minimal charge, you can pass the policy you bought to the person who buys your Trooper from you.

You can choose from three different types of extended warranties: bumper-to-bumper, stated component and drive train.

The Isuzu Trooper has not been manufactured since 2002. Therefore, you cannot buy bumper-to-bumper coverage because your Trooper will mostly likely not be "new." (Extended warranty companies define "new" as a vehicle that still has some of the original factor warranty remaining on it.) You will most likely be purchasing a stated component extended warranty for a used Trooper. This type of protection covers most major Trooper components. These include your engine, radiator, and transmission. The stated-component warranty may also cover the alternator, water pump, seals, gaskets, and electronic equipment, such as your stereo and video equipment, navigation and security system. Some companies offer "smart" extended warranty coverage, which, as opposed to a fixed list of components they will cover, allows you to pick the exact components you want covered.

The most basic coverage is the powertrain warranty. This warranty covers only your Trooper's powertrain, which includes the transmission, engine, drive axles and drive shaft. An "enhanced coverage" powertrain warranty will cover a few additional components. A powertrain warranty covers the least but it is also the least expensive.

As a general rule, the more expensive the extended warranty, the more coverage you receive.
